With over 10,000 different grape varietals, its hard to be familiar with more than 6 of the major ones, but if you're feeling adventerous we highly recommend trying Nero d’Avola wines.

The Italian native varietal is closely related to Cabernet Sauvignon as it produces full bodied wines with dark fruit flavor, but has sweeter tannins.

Stemmari Nero D'avola is made from 100% Nero D'avola grapes that have reached perfect aromatic and polyphenolic maturation. Fermented with the skins for 6-8 days to give it its velvety hue this wine is then maturated for 6 months in French barrels.

Notes: Dry, full-bodied. Aromas and flavors of plum, tobacco, cherry and licorice
Pairings: Oxtail stew, risotto, hard cheeses
